Gareth Hunt

Gareth Hunt ( born February 7, 1942 in London as Alan Leonard Hunt, † 14 March, 2007 Redhill ) was an English theater and film actor.

Life and career

Hunt was a nephew of the English theater and film actress Martita Hunt. His father died as a soldier in the Second World War, when Hunt was only two years old. He grew up in Battersea, south London, with his mother Doris and his stepfather. At 15, he hired in the merchant marine to satisfy his wanderlust. After six years, it no longer liked him there and he landed for unauthorized removal of board for three months in a military prison in New Zealand. In his next work, he worked as a street worker and as a commercial traveler.

Hunt won an award for a drama at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. After that, he was engaged by the Royal Shakespeare Company. With his role as Mike Gambit in seasons 7 and 8 of the British television series The Avengers and melon he gained popularity at the side of fellow actor Patrick Macnee and Joanna Lumley.

In the 1980s he was known in the UK with commercials for Nescafé. In the 1990s and 2000s, Hunt lived mainly of smaller television roles. In 2002, he collapsed due to a heart attack during a performance at the Pier Theatre in Bournemouth and was awarded first applause from the audience.

In 2004 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, from which they knew only his family and close friends. Hunt is survived by his third wife Amanda and three sons.
