Garuhapé

Garuhapé is a municipality of the province of Misiones, the General San Martín is located in the center of the district of Libertador. The town's name comes from the language of the Guarani and means "way of the canoes ."

The town has 8,259 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) and is located on the Ruta Nacional 12, 147 kilometers from Posadas and 150 kilometers from the waterfalls of Iguazú. The distance to the capital Buenos Aires is 1251 km.

In the municipality mostly in the agriculture and forestry ( cassava, citrus fruit and yerba mate ) is operated, another major employer is a large brick factory, which provides far beyond the provincial boundaries.

Garuhapé is known in the province for its tourist attractions: The Gruta India is a natural cave that has the oldest human settlement of the region. The Cueva del Yaguarete is also a small cave, before running a naturally dammed creek. Both caves are very popular destinations for camping and swimming in the summer.
