Gary Aldcorn

Gary William Aldcorn ( born March 7, 1935 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League.

Career

Gary Aldcorn began his career as a hockey player in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with the Winnipeg Monarchs, for which he played a total of three years from 1951 to 1954. The season 1953/54, he finished at city rivals, the Winnipeg Maroons. He then played one season for the Toronto Marlboros, with whom in 1955 he won the Memorial Cup. For the following season he moved to the Winnipeg Warriors of the Western Hockey League, with whom he won the 1956 Edinburgh Cup.

From 1956 to 1959 played Aldcorn both in the National Hockey League for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as for their at that time the farm team, the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. From 1959 to 1961, the Canadians played in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings and the Boston Bruins. In the years from 1961 to 1965 played Aldcorn again at the Winnipeg Maroons of the SSHL and then from 1965 to 1968 in their league rivals, the St. Boniface Mohawks, where he ended his career in the 1967/68 season as player-coach.

Internationally

In the Hockey World Cup 1965 played Aldcorn the only time for the Canadian national team in a tournament. In the years 1969 and 1970 Aldcorn returned as an assistant coach for Team Canada.
