Gary Thompson (racing driver)

Gary Thompson (* 31 May 1992 in Dublin ) is an Irish- Japanese race car driver.

Career

Thompson began his motorsport career in 2003 in karting, where he remained active until 2008. In 2009 he moved to the Formula racing and joined the team e -Rain in the Formula BMW Pacific. Thompson won his debut race and stood at eleven races on the podium. By season's end he was defeated by 180 to 250 points Rio Haryanto in the championship and was second overall. In addition, he completed four guest appearances in the European Formula BMW.

2010 Thompson moved to KCMG in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship. Since he started in an older vehicle model, he was entitled to evaluation in the national class. In this he achieved two podium finishes and he finished fifth in the standings. 2011 Thompson remained at KCMG in the national class of the Japanese Formula 3 He decided also read once for himself and stood in this class six times on the podium. In the standings, he once again took the fifth position. 2012 graduated from Thompson KCMG for his third Japanese Formula 3 season. He finished tenth in the standings. In the national class him again achieved a rating victory and he improved in this class in fourth place.

2013 Thompson initially returned to Europe and was at Romeo Ferraris cockpit in the European Formula 3 Championship. He enlisted in the championship with Japanese racing license. He participated in three events. Subsequently, he participated for KCMG at the Asian Le Mans Series ( ASLMS ). He won a race and finished second once. He finished fourth in the LMP2 drivers championship.
