My name is Gator (Original Title: Gator ) is an American action film from 1976 directed by Burt Reynolds, who also played the lead role. the screenplay was written by William W. Norton.

Action

Gator McKlusky is sentenced to a prison sentence for illegal distillery. After his release from prison, he lives with his father, who continues to illegally manufactured alcohol. FBI agents contact Gator and demand of him that he helps in the conversion of his friend gang leaders Bama McCall. Otherwise, it shall be re-arrested. McKlusky consents and infiltrated the organization McCalls. He learns the TV reporter Aggie Maybank know into which he falls in love and with whom he begins a relationship.

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun - Times July 29, 1976 My name is Gator is yet another movie of its kind with archetypal figures - as Ebert feared not the last of the summer. The scenes would act like a washing up the clichés of action and love movies.

The lexicon of international film wrote that the film was an " unassuming, but afloat staged thriller in the style of television series ".

The magazine Cinema wrote that the film was " fairly flat, but a breathless ".

The magazine wrote prism, the film bein think " bravura action scenes in picturesque swamp forest environment of Georgia " and show " considerable pleasure in self-mockery " of Reynolds.

Background

The film was shot in Savannah and in some other places in Georgia. Its U.S. premiere was held in New York City on 25 August 1976. The film was released in Germany on 23 December 1976.
