Gazarta (Chaldean Diocese)

The Eparchy Gazireh (Latin: Eparchia Jazirensis Chaldaeorum ) was a located in modern day Turkey Chaldean Catholic eparchy based in Cizre.

History

The Eparchy Gazireh was built in 1553. In 1957, the Eparchy Gazireh was by Pope Pius XII. dissolved and the territory was the newly established dioceses Aleppo and Beirut affiliated.

In 1913, 6,400 Chaldean Catholics lived in the territory of the Eparchy Gazireh. The eparchy was divided into eleven parishes and 17 priests had.
