By 2005 the company was renamed as Alstom Power Conversion Group in the group Alstom.

Shareholder structure
The company belonged to the takeover ever third Barclays Private Equity France, LBO France and the Converteam management. On September 2, 2011, General Electric has completed the acquisition of Converteam known.

Converteam is a supplier of marine propulsion technology, marine automation, dynamic positioning, and power supply and energy management systems for ships of the merchant navy, naval vessels and cruise ships. Specialized vessels such as drill ships, cable ships, LNG tankers, icebreakers and research vessels are also equipped.
Oil, Gas and Offshore
Converteam is a supplier of drive engineering, automation, and dynamic positioning of offshore platforms for oil and natural gas production. In the field of oil & gas transport delivers powerful Converteam inverters, motors and special high-speed drives for compressors and pumps.
Renewable Energy and Power Generation
Converteam is supplier of wind turbines with generator and frequency converter and grid connection solutions for onshore and offshore wind farms. Extensive system solutions Converteam also provides for photovoltaic and tidal power plants. Mining and material handling equipment
Converteam has a long tradition in the design of conveyor systems in mining. These include drives, automation and power supply systems for production and transportation systems, shaft signaling systems, ventilation systems and utilities underground.
Material Handling
Converteam is a supplier for the electrical components of harbor cranes and ship cranes. Complete system modernization, renovations or new installations of container cranes, ship unloaders, stacking, Bock and special cranes belong to the portfolio.
Test Stands

History
Converteam International
Converteam is based on a merger of various electrical companies with partly over a hundred years of history from Germany, England, France and the United States. Through mergers and acquisitions was 1989 CEGELEC Industrial Group, which nine years later in 1998 was to become the Alstom Group as Alstom Power Conversion Group. Due to the leveraged buyout (LBO ) of the investment company Barclays Private Equity France the division of Alstom Power Conversion in 2005 was again split off and renamed Converteam 2006. 2008 was the second shareholder changes, so that the company belonged to one third Barclays Private Equity, LBO France and the Converteam management.
Converteam in Berlin
The historic location of Converteam GmbH, Berlin. The company originates from the traditional converter plant and the plant and automation technology of the General Elektricitätsgesellschaft ( AEG ) and their successors. The production site was until well into the 1980s on the acquired in 1887 by AEG area in the fountain in Berlin- healthy well. In 1983 the company moved into the newly built plant in the Culemeyerstraße in Berlin- Marie Felde. In 1995 CEGELEC the company and in 1998 the transfer was followed in the group Alstom. The site had to August 2, 2012, the headquarters of Converteam GmbH. The farm is run by GE Energy Power Conversion on.
