Member communities

The Samtgemeinde Gellersen include the communities Kirchgellersen, Reppenstedt ( with district Covered Missen ), Südergellersen ( with district Heiligenthal ) and Westergellersen to.

Policy

The Samtgemeinde Gellersen belongs to the parliament Constituency 49 Lüneburg and the Bundestag constituency 38 Lüchow -Dannenberg - Lüneburg.

Samtgemeinderat

11 September 2011 local elections were held in Lower Saxony and thus in Gellersen. As a result, the Samtgemeinderat constituted at its meeting on November 7, 2011 in the following composition (in brackets the proportion of valid votes according to the preliminary official results of the velvet municipality select line ):

  • CDU 11 seats ( 35.22 %)
  • SPD 9 seats ( 29.6 %)
  • Green 8 seats ( 26.03 %)
  • FDP 1 seat ( 4.81% )
  • SOLI 1 seat ( 4.33% )

The fractions of the SPD and Alliance 90/The Greens form the majority group. CDU and FDP form a group.

The Main Committee ( Samtgemeinde Board) consists of seven members: the head office officials, four members of the red-green majority group and two members of the black and yellow group.

In addition, the new council formed committees on the following policy areas:

  • Construction, planning, environmental
  • Fire, order and social
  • Finances
  • Day care centers, youth, partnership and Culture
  • Train

Coat of arms

The crest content deals with the origin of the population.

The left half crest symbolized by an oak branch, the ancestral population of Lower Saxony. The oak is to be regarded as scenic tree in Lower Saxony. The six sheets and six acorns should remember the independent or formerly independent municipalities Reppenstedt, Kirchgellersen, Westergellersen, Südergellersen, Heiligenthal and Covered Missen who since March 1, 1974 a new unit, the integrated municipality Gellersen, merged.

The right crest content shows a high cross, the " German east cross " to commemorate those population groups that had your home in the former German eastern territories.

Twinning

The Samtgemeinde Gellersen In the spring of 1994 entered into a partnership with the Polish Gmina Szczecinek ( Neu- Stettin).
