Gene Savoy

Douglas Eugene "Gene " Savoy ( born May 11, 1927 in Bellingham, Washington, † September 11, 2007 in Reno, Nevada ) was an American journalist, adventurer and founder of a sect.

In the 1960s he undertook numerous expeditions in the Peruvian jungle of the eastern Andes and the Amazon. He found among others in the 1950s and 1960s, four major sites of the Incas and the remains of the people of the Chachapoyas, the "cloud people ". Also succeeded in Savoy, to find more than 40 prehistoric settlements in the Peruvian rainforest, the jungle city of Vilcabamba. During his expeditions he was always involved in conflicts with guerrillas, but was able to escape through courage and cunning. He became world famous through his expeditions and served later George Lucas, among others, as a template for his film series Indiana Jones.

In addition to his discovery activities, he founded the International Church of Christ, Church of the second Advent. He was firmly convinced that Jesus has already lived twice on earth.
