Geneva Association

The International Association for the Study of Insurance Economics, better known as The Geneva Association, is a non-profit organization that is active in research in the insurance sector. In their CEO are represented by insurance companies. The organization has its headquarters in Geneva.

Organization

Currently, the Geneva Association comprises 22 countries. In Europe, 14 countries are represented, four in America, three in Asia and Oceania in a country. According to the statutes of the organization maximum of 80 board members must be present. The President of the Geneva Association has the right to propose new members who are first reviewed by the Board and then voted on at the annual General Assembly.

The Geneva Association organizes addition to the annual meeting other events such as conferences, discussions and other meetings. Furthermore, the organization published as editor of magazines contributions to risk management and insurance. The best-known magazines make The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance - Issues and Practice and The Geneva Risk and Insurance Review dar.

History

On September 22 In 1971 in Paris for the first time, a committee of five directors of European insurance companies together to discuss the formation of an organization that should be devoted to research in risk management and insurance. It Emil Frey took the Mannheimer Versicherung, Georges Martin, the Royale Belge, Ernst Meyer, Allianz, Fabio Padoa Assicurazioni Generali and Bernard Pagezy took for La Paternelle attended the meeting.

On 27 February 1973, came in the Paris office of La Paternelle the foundation meeting of the International Association for the Study of Insurance Economics. In the following years, several programs have been launched to set priorities in research.
