George Aribert of Anhalt-Dessau

George Prince Aribert of Anhalt- Dessau ( * June 3, 1606, † November 14, 1643 in Wörlitz ) from the house of Ascanians was one of the sons of Prince Johann Georg I of Anhalt -Dessau, which, however, never came to the throne.

Life

When his father died in 1618, Prince George Aribert was 12 years old. Therefore, he came under the tutelage of his brother John Casimir of Anhalt- Dessau, but was subsequently treated him legally.

1619 George Aribert was taken by his uncle Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt- Köthen in the Fruitbearing society. This gave him the company name of the Graceful and the motto of the smell and taste. As an emblem him a bitter orange with ripe oranges (Citrus aurantium L. ) has been covered. His brother and uncle, the Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt- Köthen, Rudolf von Anhalt- Zerbst, Christian I of Anhalt -Bernburg and August of Anhalt- Plötzkau, were all also members of the Fruchtbringende society.

Together with Christoph Albrecht of Georg Aribert Zanthier made ​​in the years 1625 to 1629 imperial military service. 1632 was awarded to him as his own residence Wörlitz; in addition he also got the possessions Radegast and Kleutsch.

On March 7, 1637, he married in morganatic marriage Johanna Elisabeth, the daughter of Christoph von Krosigk. With her he had a son, Christian Aribert of Radegast, Count of Bähringen († 1677) and the four daughters of Bähringen Sophie ( 1637-1695 ), Eleanor of Bähringen ( 1642-1677 ), Dorothea Ariberte of Bähringen ( 1639-1661 ) and Joan of Bähringen († 1660).
