George Clinton, Jr.

George Clinton ( born 6 June 1771 in New York City; † September 16, 1809 ibid ) junior was an American politician. Between 1805 and 1809 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George Clinton Jr. was born about four years before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War in New York City and grew up there. About this nothing is known about his private life. Politically, he was a member of the founded by Thomas Jefferson Democratic- Republican Party. In 1801 he took part in the Constitutional Convention of New York as a delegate. Then he sat in the years 1804 and 1805 in the New York State Assembly. He was born on February 14, 1805 in the third electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, there to fill the vacancy that was created by the resignation of Samuel L. Mitchill, in the eighth and ninth Congress. In the following congressional elections of 1806 he was re-elected in the third district. Clinton gave up another nomination in 1808 and retired on March 3, 1809 from the Congress of. He died on 16 September 1809 in New York City.

Family

George Clinton Jr. was the son of Major General James Clinton (1736-1812) and the nephew of Vice President George Clinton ( 1739-1812 ). He was the brother of DeWitt Clinton (1769-1828), U.S. Senator from New York, and half-brother of Congressman James G. Clinton ( 1804-1849 ).
