George Freeman (guitarist)

George Freeman ( born April 10, 1927 in Chicago) is an American jazz guitarist and tenor saxophonist of the hard bop and soul jazz.

Freeman played at the beginning of his career in 1950 at a gig in Washington, DC with Charlie Parker, later in 1960 in the band of Gene Ammons to hear on the albums You Talk that talk and The Black Cat. He also plays with Richard " Groove" Holmes, Buddy Rich and Jimmy McGriff. In 1969, his first album under his own name, " Birth Sign " was on the label Delmark Records, where his brother was involved Von Freeman. After a while it became quiet around him, he returned mid-1990s back to the jazz scene and recorded three albums in which his brother was involved again.
