George Poage

George Poage ( George Coleman Poage; born November 6, 1880 in Hannibal, Missouri, † April 11, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois) was an American track and field athlete.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin -Madison won at the Olympic Games 1904 in St. Louis bronze in the 400 - meter hurdles and the hurdle race over 200 m. He was the first African-American medalists in athletics at the Olympic Games. About 60 m he left in the run, over 400 m, he finished sixth.
