Georgefischeriales

The Georgefischeriales are a group of smut fungi ( Ustilaginomycotina ) and how all the smut fungi, plant parasites.

Characteristics and lifestyle

The representatives of this order are compared to the other systems characterized by non-porous septa in mature hyphae. All representatives are dimorphisch, so switch between yeast -like and hyphal stages from. The teliospores are light brown to dark and arise in the vegetative parts of their host plants. The interaction zones with the host are local and have no interaction apparatus, or haustoria. The four families differ in the shape of their basidia. The Tilletiariaceae are the only representatives of the Exobasidiomycetes with Phragmobasidien.

Most species parasitize on monocots, the two representatives of Georgefischeriaceae but at the Convolvulaceae.

System

The Georgefischeriales among the Exobasidiomycetes. It is not certain whether the Georgefischeriales form a monophyletic group. You will Begerow et al. (2006 ) can be subdivided as follows:

  • Georgefischeriaceae Georgefischeria
  • James Dicksonia
  • Phragmotaenium
  • Tilletiaria
  • Tolyposporella
  • Tilletiopsis derxii ( Anamorphic )
  • Tilletiopsis flava ( Anamorphic )
  • Tilletiopsis fulvescens ( Anamorphic )
  • Tilletiopsis oryzicola ( Anamorphic )
  • Eballistra
  • Gjaerumia
  • Tilletiopsis minor
