Georges Pruvot

Georges Florentin Pruvot ( born April 11, 1852 in Saint- Amand- Montrond, † October 15th 1924 in Paris) was a French physician and zoologist.

Life

Pruvot studied in Paris first human medicine, where he received his degree and his Doctor of Medicine in 1882. He became an assistant at the University of Paris ( faculté des sciences de Paris ) and the following year to employees of the Biological Station of Roscoff. In 1885 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the morphology of the nervous system of the polychaete Recherches anatomiques et morphologiques sur le système nerveux of annélides polychètes, then in 1885 a lecturer at the Faculty of Paris, and then from 1892 at the University of Grenoble, where he worked in the following years as a university teacher.

In 1898 he left Grenoble and went back to Paris to take responsibility for a course of comparative anatomy. In 1900 he became director of the station Banyuls -sur -Mer. He married in 1926, the French zoologist and Malakologin Alice Pruvot -Fol. In 1922 he retired from active academic work.
