Georgi Dimitrov (footballer born 1959)

Georgi Dimitrov ( born January 14, 1959 in Gledaczewo in Stara Zagora ) is a former Bulgarian football player.

Dimitrov began his career in the home at Beroe Stara Zagora. In 1977 he moved to the capital club CSKA Sofia, where he played in nine years, 222 times in defense. During this time he won with the team four times the Bulgarian Championship (1980, 1981, 1982, 1983) and three times the Cup ( 1981, 1983, 1985). Even before the World Cup in Mexico in 1986, he signed a contract with AS Saint- Étienne. In France, Dimitrov played two years in which he completed 53 league games, before he returned to CSKA Sofia in 1988. For the third time here he won the league and cup double. In 1989, he then again for a year to local rivals Slawia Sofia, where he finished his career with 31 years.

With 19 years Dimitrov made ​​his debut in 1978 in the Bulgarian national team, for whom he scored six goals in 77 games and with which he penetrated, 1986 at the World Cup in Mexico until the last sixteen.
