Georgian Dream

Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia (Georgian: ქართული ოცნება - დემოკრატიული საქართველო - Kartuli otsneba - demokratiuli sakartvelo ) is a political party alliance in Georgia. It was founded on 19 April 2012 and brings together two months later, ten parties and civic movements. These include the Citizens' Movement of Democratic dream of the Franco- Georgian businessman Bidsina Ivanishvili, the Republican Party of Georgia, the Conservative Party of Georgia, the party Georgia's Way, the party of freedom of movement, the movement for a united Georgia, the party National Forum, the party We ourselves ( now: European Democrats of Georgia ) and the Georgian party group. Later, the party Our Georgia closed - Free Democrats.

The aim of the electoral alliance was to replace the government of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili in the parliamentary elections held on 1 October 2012, which was finally achieved. A political program does not exist. Members include market economy and pro-western set liberals, radical nationalists with xenophobic rhetoric and politicians from the environment of the former president Eduard Shevardnadze, who had lost after the Rose Revolution in Georgia office and influence.

Initiator of the Alliance Party and its most influential personality was the entrepreneur Bidsina Ivanishvili. However, the founding chairman was a lawyer Manana Kobachidse. He took over the position on an interim basis, because Ivanishvili still did not have Georgian citizenship in April 2012. The alliance also joined several prominent Georgians, among them the former human rights ombudsman Sozar Subari, the footballer Kakha Kaladse, the Georgian chess champion Zurab Asmaiparaschwili, the journalist Guram Odischaria, Georgia's former UN Ambassador Irakli Alasania and Georgia's former Foreign Minister Tedo Japaridze.
