Geovani Faria da Silva

Geovani Faria da Silva ( born April 6, 1964 in Vitória, Espírito Santo ), also called Geovani Silva or Geovani, is a former Brazilian footballer.

Career

In the club

Geovani began his career at the age of 16, in 1981, at Desportiva Capixaba. His debut in the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol he gave on January 18, 1981 at a 0:4 defeat against Botafogo FR. With Desportiva 1981 he won the championship of the Espírito Santo - the Campeonato Capixaba. In 1983 he moved to CR Vasco da Gama, where he played alongside Romario and Roberto Dinamite. For Vasco da Gama made ​​his debut on 30 March 1983 a 0-0 draw against Corinthians São Paulo. In Rio de Janeiro 1989 Geovani won the Brazilian Championship twice and the city championship and state championship in Rio de Janeiro.

In 1989 he was taken by Luigi Corioni to Europe to FC Bologna in Serie A. However, in Bologna, he was never able to properly enforce that was related, among others, according to his own statement by saying that he had problems with coach Luigi Maifredi. After his time in Bologna in 1990, he moved to Karlsruher SC in the Bundesliga. In Karlsruhe, he came to 17 missions in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals.

After a season in Karlsruhe and a total of three years in Europe, he returned to his native Brazil, where he played for two years at his old club Vasco da Gama. In this he was less successful with the club than before, and so he then went to Mexico to UANL Tigres. In Tigres, he spent two unsuccessful years and then returned again to Vasco da Gama returned. On 30 November 1995 he played against EC Juventude his last game in the Brazilian league. Overall, he came in the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol 136 games and 14 goals. In 1996, he retired permanently from the club back and still played to 2002 in the lower leagues in Brazil, where he again won the championship of the State of Espírito Santo in 1999 and 2000.

In the National Team

Geovani has already participated with seventeen years at the Junior World Cup in 1981. Also in 1983, he was at the Junior World Cup here and this time he was even top scorer and player of the tournament.
