Gerald Ganglbauer

Gerald Gangl Bauer ( born February 24, 1958 in Graz, Austria ) is an Austrian publisher, has both the Austrian and Australian citizenship and was at the age of 48 years, the Parkinson's diagnosis. Since then he has been ambassador for Parkinson's support groups.

Journey

Gerald Ganglbauer (fully Horst Gerald Ganglbauer ) studied communications, journalism, media sociology and other topics at the University of Graz with the conclusion Academic media expert. In 2006 he received a diploma with honors in Information Technology at Sydney Institute of Technology (SIT). In 1984 he founded the independent publishing house Gangan together with his wife Petra Ganglbauer in Graz. After the divorce, he was for some years in Vienna, from 1989 to 2013 he was in Sydney and Perth, Australia with dual citizenship and was performed alongside well-known names such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johann Lafer as one of several top foreign Styrian. Since 2013 he lives in Stattegg origin ( Graz ) environment.

1982/83 he was co-founder and editor of the literary magazine perspective, 1987/88 chief editor of the literary journal gangan quarter, magazine about literature. In 1992, he was together with Andreas Puff- Trojan publisher of text changes and published since 1996, the international online magazine gangway. In 2001, he developed the gait Awards, an intercultural competition for artists and works of art on the internet. The awards were presented by 2005, but had to be discontinued due to his illness. The Gangan Verlag published a decade books in print, later mainly electronic.

In the last ten years Ganglbauer member was in local action groups and was elected Chairman of the Ultimo Precinct Committee in Sydney. Ganglbauer is the board founder Austrians Abroad (2004) and since 2007 member of the board of the Austrian expatriates World Federation ( AÖWB ). He was also chairman of the Free Beach Action NSW, a lobby group for naturism in New South Wales.

Disease

2006 Gerald Ganglbauer was diagnosed with the early stage of Parkinson's disease, which forced him already under the age of 50 years to retirement. After this dramatic cut in his life he was in Parkinson self-help Styria in Austria as well as in Parkinson 's NSW Inc. in New South Wales active. Despite his illness, he was re-elected in 2010 as director of AÖWB. He built in cooperation with the Viennese neurologist Dr. Willibald Gerschlager the Austrian Parkinson advice on and looked after them from June 2007 to December 2010. Likewise, he runs a Facebook page and a Twitter microblog for the umbrella organization for Parkinson self-help Austria. On Skype Ganglbauer founded in August 2010, the IM groups Parkins (on) line.

He also founded Parkinson support groups in Sydney and in Graz. From the Graz group a registered charity, was as its first president Ganglbauer was elected in March 2014. He has also written for the book by Dr. Gerschlager about Parkinson's disease as a patient a contribution.
