Gerald Green (author)

Gerald Green ( born May 1, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, as Gerald Greenberg; † August 29, 2006 in Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut ) was an American writer.

Gerald Green graduated from Columbia University, his studies in journalism. During his studies he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa academic community. During the Second World War he served in the U.S. military and then returned to Columbia. Gerald worked after his studies as a correspondent in Europe for the American military magazine Stars and Stripes until he was one of the first writers of NBC News. He then became a member of the Today Show, where he worked as a writer, producer and director.

1950 his first novel Majesty O'Keefe. 1956 novel The Last Angry Man was published, which reflects his background in television and love for his father, who died in 1952. More books by him are The Sword, The Sun and The Hostage Heart. His novel Holocaust became known, this novel was the basis of a script. In 1978, his well-known television game Holocaust, which won an Emmy Award, premiered in the U.S., 1979 in the FRG. Model for the fictional character of the painter Karl Weiss was the German artist Leo Haas.
