Fairfield County (Connecticut)

Fairfield County is a county located in the state of Connecticut in the United States. It is located in the southwest of the state and had 916 829 inhabitants ( Census 2010) with a population density of 565.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The area of the county comprises 2168 square kilometers, of which 547 square kilometers of water. The largest city is Bridgeport.

Geography

Fairfield County is bordered on the north and east by the county Litchfield and New Haven, in the south on the Long Iceland Sound and the west by the U.S. state of New York. The County is approximately 40 miles from New Haven and around 80 miles from New York City.

History

Fairfield County was one of four Gründungscountys 1666.
