Gérard Audran

Gérard Audran ( born August 2, 1640 Lyon; † July 26, 1703 in Paris) was a French engraver.

Audran was formed in Paris, then three years in Rome. Louis XIV asked him to Paris to come back, and then appointed him to the court engraver. He stabbed numerous leaves after Raphael, Titian, Annibale Carracci, Domenichino, Nicolas Poussin, Pierre Mignard, which are distinguished by a rare skill and picturesque effect of the treatment. Audran was an engraver in the great historical style, and has been working on for its time unusually large copper plates.

His nephew Benoît Audran and Jean Audran formed under him also made to known engravers.
