Gercüş

Gercüş (Kurdish Kercews ) is a town and a district in the Turkish province of Batman. The town has 4,725 inhabitants, the county 22,183 (as of 2012). The population consists of Kurds and Turks.

Until 1926 the city was Gercüş district Midyat in Mardin province. 1926 a new district with its capital Gercüş was established in Mardin. In 1987, the province was founded Batman and slammed Gercüş this province.

In the district there are 58 villages and small towns where most Kurds live. Also, are located in Kayapinar, Yenice and Yolağzı Mhallami.
