Gerger

Gerger (formerly Aldus ) is a town and a district in the Turkish province of Adiyaman in Southeast Anatolia. The town has 3,235 inhabitants Gerger and the county 24 622 (as of 2010 ). Gerger lies to the east of the province and borders the provinces of Diyarbakir, Malatya and Şanlıurfa.

About the west bank of the Euphrates at Gerger, the ancient " Arsameia on the Euphrates ", stands on a ridge of the castle of Gerger ( Gerger Kalesi ). The plant was built by Arsames II ( 260-228 BC), one of the founders of the kingdom of Commagene.
