The Medical Centre for Quality in Medicine ( AQuMed ) is a scientific institute in joint sponsorship of the German Medical Association and National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. The AQuMed was founded in 1995 and has its headquarters in Berlin since 2004 (previously Cologne). CEO is the president of the German Medical Association and the CEO of accredited Physicians. CEO is Christian Thomeczek. First director of the institute was Günter Ollenschläger from 1995 to March 2014.

Tasks

The AQuMed is the common center of excellence of the German Medical Association and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians clinical guidelines, patient information, patient safety, evidence-based medicine, quality indicators and management of medical knowledge.

The AQuMed cooperates in the field of guidelines with the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies.

The Institute is co-initiator and member of the German Network for Evidence-based Medicine, the Guidelines International Network and the Action Alliance patient safety.
