Germán Frers

German Frers ( born July 4, 1941 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine Yachtkonstukteur and one named after him design office.

Career

He began his career as a draftsman in his father's engineering office at age 15 while still in school. In 1958 he designed a first 10-meter racing yacht. In 1965 he went to New York for the yacht design office Sparkman & Stephens (S & S). During the three years of collaboration he rose to within the company as chief designer and designed a series of models, which later became classics in their respective yacht classes. In 1968, German Frers S & S, lived and worked on in New York and designed for American customers yachts, Beau Geste, Wizard of Paget, Quest of Paget and Simba.

Argentina

In 1970 he returned to Buenos Aires and joined the 1928 founded by his father design office. With the yacht Matrero, the first draft after his return, he had great success in 1971 with the Argentine team at the Admiral 's Cup in England waters off Cowes. The yacht made ​​the Argentine design internationally acceptable. Europe

1989 German Frers went to Italy to direct the Moro di Venezia design team for the challenge of the 27th America's Cup. His design won the first world championship in the newly created America's Cup class in May 1991. Its design set the parameters and trends for all challengers and defenders in the future.
