The German Sport University Cologne ( DSHS ) is the only German Sport University and emerged from the German College of Physical Education ( DHFL ), which was founded in 1920 by Carl Diem and August Beer in Berlin. Founding Rector of the University of Cologne in 1947 was Carl Diem, who remained rector until his death in 1962. History

The Cologne Sports University was founded in 1947 as the legal successor of the founded in Berlin on May 15, 1920 German College of Physical Education and approved on November 22 of this year by the Allies.
