Germany Schulz

Adolph " Germany" Schulz ( born April 19, 1883 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, † April 14, 1951, Detroit, Michigan ) was an American American football player and coach. He played on the position of the center and a linebacker at the University of Michigan.

His father, Adolph F. Schulz sen. (* 1854) was a physician; his mother was Sophia Schulz ( * 1850). The couple emigrated from Germany in 1880 and immigrated to the United States. Schulz played football at the Fort Wayne High School.

Career

Schulz played at the above College 1904 until 1905., The year 1906 he had to stop because he only had to earn a degree as a steel worker, the more money. 1907 and 1908 he finished his studies then. Schulz played for the Michigan Wolverines on the position of the center. He revolutionized the delivery of the ball to the quarterback, while he handed the ball with one hand with a slight spin.
