Giacomo Pacchiarotti

Pacchiarotti Giacomo (* 1474 in Siena, † 1539 or 1540, probably in Viterbo) was an Italian painter.

Life

Giacomo Pacchiarotti ( also mentioned as Pacchiarotto ) received his education probably by Bernardino Fungai. Parts of his work were previously the Pietro di Francesco Orioli attributed. His students included Girolamo del Pacchia. To 1498 he collaborated with Francesco di Giorgio, Neroccio di Bartolomeo di Benedetto de ' Landi and Luca Signorelli. In Siena, he was documented in 1502 as a member of the Compania dei Venturieri and referenced in the same year the city, as he was involved in the uprising against Pandolfo Petrucci. Just one year later he could return to Siena, where he married in 1505 and Captain of the district Stalloreggi was. From 1509 to 1514 he worked at the lost in the fire of 1655 frescoes of the Basilica di San Francesco. In addition, he is called as an expert witness in 1510 to a picture by Perugino and examined in 1513 the works of Domenico Beccafumi in Santa Maria della Scala. 1518 documented work of Pacchiarotti to the movement of the Torre del Mangia at the Palazzo Pubblico. A year later he was appointed Gonfaloniere of Stalloreggi. In 1526, he participated in the Battle of Camollia, in the Siena troops from Florence to beat just outside the Porta Senese Camollia. A second banishment from Siena befell the artist in 1539 when he had to pull out for six months after Talamone. He probably died a year later in Viterbo.
