Giacomo Tritto

Giacomo Tritto ( born April 2, 1733 in Altamura, † September 16, 1824 in Naples) was an Italian composer and music educator.

He studied from 1752 at the Neapolitan Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini and was built in 1785 music director at the Teatro San Carlo. From 1816 he worked as Kapellmeister. Tritto was a teacher by Vincenzo Bellini, Saverio Mercadante, Pietro Raimondi, Giacomo Meyerbeer and Spontini Gaspare. Between 1764 and 1815 he wrote 51 operas in the style of the Neapolitan school, including " Arminio " (1786 ), " La canterina " (1790) and " Marco Albinio " (1810 ). His teaching methods he laid down in writing, with his " basso School" from 1821 was particularly wide reception.
