Altamura is a town in the province of Bari in Puglia with 69,901 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).
Geography
Altamura is located 45 km southwest of Bari on the border with Basilicata.

Bitonto, Cassano delle Murgia, Gravina in Puglia, Grumo Appula, Matera ( MT), Ruvo di Puglia, Santeramo in Colle and Toritto.
History
Since the Bronze Age people live here. In the 6th to 3rd century BC megaliths were created in the area. Frederick II found the city again and from 1232 to build the cathedral.
