Giles Smith

Giles Smith (born 1962 in Colchester, Essex ) is a British author, journalist and former musician.

Smith, who was influenced in his youth by the music and the appearance of Marc Bolan and XTC, was from 1986 to 1988 alongside Martin Newell, the second member of the band Cleaners from Venus. After poor results promo tour in Germany, he ended his active career as a musician, which he had begun a project called Orphans of Babylon. Smith later worked as a music journalist. On his experiences as a music fan, Popjournalist and musician based in the book Lost Music.

Meanwhile, Smith, a self-confessed Chelsea fan, worked as a sports writer and also writes regularly for The Times.

In 2001 he was one of the authors who contributed a story to the book edited by Nick Hornby book Speaking with the Angel.
