Gilles Apap

Gilles Apap ( born May 21, 1963 in Bougie, Algeria ) is a French violinist.

Life

He grew up in Nice, France musicians began playing violin at age seven. He studied music in Nice and Lyon, as well as at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and won in addition to several other competitions, the Yehudi Menuhin Competition in 1985, in the category of contemporary music.

Apap plays today the classic and contemporary violin repertoire, as well as traditional " Fiddl -Music " from Europe, America and India. Since about 1991, he also played with the " Transylvanian Mountain Boys ", which continues to Chris Judge, Brendan Statom and his brother Jean -Marc Apap belong.

In Santa Barbara, he served as concertmaster of the symphony orchestra.

Gilles Apap now lives in California.
