Gingoog

Gingoog City is a city in the Philippine province of Misamis Oriental. It is located 122 km east of the city of Cagayan de Oro and 74 kilometers west of Butuan City.

History

Gingoogs first settlers came from the ethnic group of the Manobo. The first settlement they built in an area that is now part of Daan Lungsod Baranggay and later, when the population grew, expanded up to today's lower west side of Gingoog. The founding as Gingoog is dated to 1750. Of copyrights were missionaries under the direction of Friar Minor.

In 1868 the town became a pueblo in 1903 under the American colonial government of the administrative unit. Shortly thereafter it was downgraded to a district administration and the community Talisayan subdivided to finally again back the status of a separate community some years later.

On June 18, 1960 Gingoog was certified with the Republic Act No. 2668 by the then President Carlos P. Garcia as a city.
