Giovane Gávio

Giovane Gavio ( born September 7, 1970 in Juiz de Fora ) is a retired Brazilian volleyball and beach volleyball player.

Career

Since 1989 Giovane played in the Brazilian national team, with whom he won the gold medal in Barcelona at the 1992 Olympic Games. In 1993 he was the winner in the World League and thereby named the most valuable player. At the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, he finished with the national team to fifth place. Along with his team-mate Tande Giovane played from 1997 to 2000 also beach volleyball. 1999 occupied Giovane / Tande at the World Championships in Marseille in 25th place. 2000 Giovane returned back to indoor volleyball and reached at the Olympic Games in Sydney in sixth place. With the career it went again uphill: 2002 Giovane world champion in Argentina, 2003 World Cup winner in Japan and as a highlight again in 2004 Olympic champion in Athens. Then he ended his active career and worked as a trainer in the Brazilian Superliga.
