Girolamo Romani

Girolamo Romanino (* 1485 in Brescia, † 1566 in Brescia ) was an Italian painter.

Roma Nino was a student of Floriano Ferramola there, lived 1509-1513 in Padua and Venice, where he further formed after Giorgione. He painted 1519-20 four frescoes of the Passion in the Cathedral of Cremona and then returned to Brescia, where he died in 1566.

His paintings are characterized by skillful composition and brilliant color that was initially, and later voted on a glowing golden color on a fine silver tone. Of his altarpieces are the most outstanding:

  • Adoration of the Christ Child ( London, National Gallery ),
  • Birth and Lamentation of Christ ( San Giuseppe Brescia ) and
  • Assumption (Bergamo, Sant ' Alessandro ).
