Gizhigin Bay

As Gischigabusen (Russian Гижигинская губа / Gischiginskaja guba, also Gischigabucht ) is the northwestern part of the great Shelikof Bay called, forms the northeastern part of the Sea of Okhotsk in Russia's Far East.
The bay extends between the mainland, on which the main ridge of the Kolymagebirges the coast approaches, the west and the Taigonos peninsula in the east. The peninsula separates the Gischigabusen from Penschinabusen, which is the northeastern extension of the Shelikof Bay. Along the line connecting the Cape Taigonos at the tip of the peninsula to the Cape Wiliginski on the western shore, the bay is about 200 km wide, on the line approximately along the parallel of 60 ° 30 ' north about 250 km. The length of the Gischigabusen from this line to the mouth of the eponymous river Gischiga is over 150 km. The inner part of Gischigabusens of the estuary is 30 to 40 km wide.
The mostly steep and rocky shore of the bay is further broken down by capes and coves, especially on the east side. Administratively, the sparsely populated coastal area belongs to the Gischigabusen to Magadan Oblast, the largest part to the raion Severo- Ewenski, only the outermost western part to the raion Omsuktschan.
