Glinojeck

Glinojeck is a town in Poland, in the Masovian Voivodeship.

Geography

Geographical Location

The city Glinojeck is in the northwest of the Mazowieckie region on the river Wkra ( Uecker). Not far from the city extend the European Route 77 from Warsaw to Gdansk and the country road 60 Płock after Ciechanów.

History

The first written mention of a settlement on the site of the present Glinojeck dates from the year 1403. During the third partition of Poland, the place came to Prussia. With the formation of the Duchy of Warsaw Glinojeck was part of the same 1807 and 1815 part of Congress Poland. Only with the establishment of the sugar factory Izabelin the 1857-1859 boom began in the village. The name of the factory was derived from the name of the daughter of the first owner. After the First World War, the village was part of the community mlock and 1924 it was connected to the railway network. From 1 January 1955, the seat of a place Gromada ( village community ) has ten offices Schulz and remained so until 1973, when the community in a municipality ( gmina ) was converted. In an administrative reform of the place in 1975 part of the newly formed Province Ciechanów. 1976-1985 a new sugar factory Glinojeck was built the largest in Europe. After a new administrative reform Glinojeck was part of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.
