Glittertind (Band)

Glittertind is a Norwegian music project, which includes elements of metal, punk and folk uses and lyrically deals with the Nordic history, local traditions, love of nature and Ásatrú. Occasionally the project due to the relationships between music and lyrics is associated with the genres of Viking rock or folk metal.

History

Founder of the project is the 1985 born Torbjørn Sandvik. The name comes from the Glittertind second highest peak in the mountain range of Jotunheimen in Norway. Sandvik felt claims to this name as a very appropriate, because this part of the country is referred to as the "heart of Norway ".

After the Group had already produced a few demos, including the in 2002 published about Ultima Thule Records demo album Mellom Bakkar Og Berg, the independent label Karmageddon Media took over in 2004, the project for the European sales under contract. On August 23, 2004, an album was titled " Evige Asatro " published whose songs constitute admissions of the same demos from 2003. The album received by the trade press and webzines rather ambivalent reviews. Example, described the German magazine Rock Hard music as " pushy " and " striking ", while the online magazine metal.de the album as " A piece of history " praised. The album contains original songs and interpretations of classic Norwegian pieces and hymns, as Sønner av Norge or Norges Skaal.

On April 18, published in 2005 " Til Dovre faller ", a 7- track EP, which is dedicated to the Norwegian freedom fighters and the hundred years of independence of the country. As on the previous work of the artwork for this release by Samuli " Skrymer " Ponsimaa was drawn, which is responsible for drawings and the like also with his main band Finntroll.

After a long hiatus appeared on May 29, 2009 Album Landkjenning, which stylistically in the area folk rock and folk can be classified Metal. 2010 Glittertind developed into a full band, in addition to Sandvik from the musicians Stefan Theofilakis (flute, vocals), Geir Holm (drums), Bjørn Nordstoga ( bass), Olav Aasbø (guitar, vocals) and Geirmund Simonsen is.
