Gmina Chełm Śląski

Chelm Slaski [ xɛwm ɕlõsci ] ( German United Chelm ) is a village in the powiat bieruńsko - lędziński the Silesian Voivodeship and seat of the municipality of the same country. It lies between Imielin and Oświęcim.

History

The first mention of Great Chelm dated to the year 1368. At that time the village belonged to the Duchy of Ratibor from which it was like its neighboring towns and Kosztow Imielin through the vast forests in the headwaters of the Klodnitz and Mleczna cut off. 1391 gave Duke John II the three located at the Przemsa villages on the eastern border of his duchy Ratibor Bishop of Krakow John III. Radlica. The diocese, which previously owned the manorial system, broke out the three villages of Silesia, since it also claimed sovereignty. While the surrounding areas came in the 16th century the Bohemian Crown, the enclave remained in Polish hands. After the conquest of Silesia by Frederick II of Prussia demanded the surrender of the enclave, which was incorporated in 1772 in the Prussian territory. Following the withdrawal of the diocese to the basic rule of the Office Imielin arose. 1807 this office was due to his previous affiliation with the Diocese of Krakow assigned to the newly established Principality of Marshal Jean Lannes Siewierz, Duke of Montebello and came back in 1817 to Prussia. 1818 United Chelm was part of the district of Pless.

After the plebiscite in Upper Silesia, 1921, the town belonged to Upper Silesia, which passed by a decision of the League of Nations in 1922 in Poland. From 1939 to 1945, the site was again part of the German Empire.

1945 were the places Chelm ( Chelm United ), Goławiec ( Gollawietz ), Gorki ( Gurkau ) and Kopciowice ( Kopziowitz ) combined for community Chelm Wielki, which later received the name of Chelm Slaski. In 1951 a factory was established fans.

The town was incorporated in 1973 by Imielin. Together with Imielin were also Chelm Slaski 1975, a part of Tychy and from 1977 by Mysłowice.

On 1 January 1995, the place got back its independence, the newly formed municipality still include the districts Kopciowice ( Kopziowitz ) and Maly Chelm ( Chelm small ).
