Gmina Sośnicowice

The community Kieferstadtel (Polish Gmina Sośnicowice ) is a city and rural municipality ( gmina miejsko - wiejska ) in Poland in Gliwice powiat ( district Gliwice ). It belongs to the Silesian Voivodeship in the historic Upper Silesia. The parish seat is Kieferstadtel.

Geography

Location

The municipality is located in the central Upper Silesia in southwestern powiat Gliwice, bordering the municipality of Gliwice and the communities Pilchowice ( Pilchowitz ) Rudziniec ( Rudzinitz ) and Kuźnia Raciborska ( Ratiborhammer ) in Silesia and the bilingual community Birawa / Bierawa in the Opole Voivodeship.

Bilingual place names

After the minority protection law came into force in 2005, the community Sośnicowice led early by local surveys. It spoke out in seven out of nine locations for the additional introduction of German place names. After that first hesitated to take further steps for several years, on February 25, 2013, finally they sent the applications to the responsible Ministry of Administration and Digitization. On October 10, 2013 Official German place names were also introduced for six of the nine districts in the community.

On 11 December 2013 bilingual town signs were erected in these districts. Kieferstadtel thus is the third church of the Silesian Voivodeship, are found in the bilingual local Childer. After Rudnik it is now the second major town with German road signs, in which less than 20 percent of the population is German.
