Godøy

Godøy is an island in Norway in More og Romsdal Fylke.

Godøy is the westernmost island of Giske, with which it is connected via the Godøytunnel. The island has an area of 10.87 square kilometers, the mountain is Storehornet with 497 m the highest point. Godøya has 1085 inhabitants ( 2001). The most important industry is fishing and fish processing. On the island is the lighthouse Alnes and the grave mound Eilifsrøysa. The 5 m high grave mound dates from the late Roman period, 375-400 AD In Godøytun museum there is an exhibition on the grave mound Eilifsrøysa.
