Gōgen Yamaguchi

GoGEN Yamaguchi (Japanese山口 刚 玄; born January 20, 1909 in Kagoshima, † 20 May 1989) was a well known master of karate.

Yamaguchi learned early Judo and kendo and arrived about a Japanese carpenter to karate, who coached him secretly. Around 1932 he became a student of Chojun Miyagi, who founded the Goju - Ryu style. Yamaguchi was in 1952 as the official successor of Miyagi. Because of its smooth motion he was nicknamed the cat.
