Gohlig

The Nagelsche pillar on the summit

The Gohlig (also Goldene Höhe ) is an elevation in the Erzgebirge, near Dresden in Saxony.

Location

The Gohlig rises five kilometers east of Freital and about seven kilometers south of Dresden. The districts Rippien, Hänichen and Welschhufe the community Bannewitz extend to the gently sloping hillsides of the survey. On the west flank the main road 170 and the route of the 1951 abandoned Windbergbahn runs.

The Luna Park located in the vicinity was designed in 1998/99 by AG landscaping of the community Poss village as a vantage point with seating.

Name

The acquisition is in the Sorbian Gohlig for " barren, treeless height".

Geology

The summit of the mountain consists of square sandstones, as they are also known from the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The base of the mountain consists of gneiss, however, conglomerates of the Permian Basin of Doehlen. It switched Steinkohleflöze were the subject of a lively mining in the 19th century.

History

The story goes back to the year 1200 before our time. 1929 Two urn graves were discovered from the Early Bronze Age on the mountain.

In 1844, the Rippiener Bauer Traugott tree began at the summit of the mountain with a Sunday beer. Since about 1900, the Mountain Inn Golden Height was on the Gohlig, which developed thanks to the nearby train station Hänichen - Goldene Höhe a popular tourist restaurant and Ball establishment. The setting of the passenger traffic on the Windbergbahn 1957 led to declining demand sender. After closing the restaurant in 1965, the building fell into disrepair. Since none of the planned use variants could be realized, one spent the stone remains of the restaurant in the nearby quarry. Nature has now recaptured the area.

On the west and south side existed at the end of the 19th century, the coal plants Beharrlichkeitssschacht, Becker shaft and Berglust shaft, of which little more remains can be identified in the field. The existing since about 1500 Sandstone mining was stopped in 1914.

1865 a stone surveying point was placed 1st order of the Central European arc measurement ( Nagelsche column ) on the Gohlig. Because of visibility problems to the adjacent survey points, however, the column was then used for the second -order network. The Nagelsche column was prepared locally from sandstone and is about four feet high. In the years 2001 to 2006, was restored by the National Association Saxon homeland security, regional group Goldene Höhe.

With the construction of two 1,000 m3 capacity water tank was started in 1920.
