Geography

Neighboring communities

Bannewitz bordered to the south and south-east by districts of Kreischa ( Kleba, Brösgen, Theisewitz, Small Cars village, Quohren ), to the southwest of the city Rabenau ( Karsdorf, Oelsa, Obernaundorf ), on the west by Freital and in the north and northeast by the Saxon capital Dresden. Presumably there is the deserted village of Franconia in the area between Poss village, Brösgen, Kleba, Golberode and Rippien.

Community structure

The community Bannewitz consists of the four villages Bannewitz, Poss village, Goppeln and Rippien. The villages themselves consist of the following districts:

  • Bannewitz: Bannewitz, Boderitz, Cunnersdorf, Welschhufe
  • Possendorf: Börnchen, Poss village, Wilmsdorf
  • Rippien: Hänichen, Rippien
  • Goppeln: Goppeln, Golberode, Gaustritz

The district Bannewitz consists of the historic villages Bannewitz, Eutschütz, Nöthnitz and Rosentitz which are each named after them in districts.

History

In 1311, the first documentary mention as " Panewycz " was a Slavic settlement. Bannewitz heard the beginning of the 20th century Amtshauptmannschaft Dresden, Possendorf contrast to Amtshauptmannschaft Dippoldiswalde. 1952, the then independent municipality parts are added to the new circle Freital. After the merger of the county Freital with the county Dippoldiswalde Bannewitz 1994 is part of the new Weißeritz circle. 1999 to merge the communities Poss village and Bannewitz; where the spell witzer district Kauscha is incorporated to Dresden. In August 2008, the spell joke goes over the Weißeritzkreis in the newly formed District Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains.

Coat of arms

The community Bannewitz leads to resolution of the Municipal of 15 December 2005 an officially approved coat of arms.

Blazon: " In divided Göpel section; green bordiertes from Silver and two green pile threads split silver building with green windows and six green roof with roof lights ( Malakoff Tower ); back in silver green oak; down in green three silver silver with feet deformed and crosses between these three six-pointed star. "

Bannewitz maintains with the city Braeunlingen in Baden-Württemberg a partnership.

Museums

  • The museum rooms in the castle Nöthnitz show the change in taste from Rococo to Neoclassicism and the afterlife of antiquity. They are dedicated to the life and activity of Count Heinrich von Bünau (1697-1762) and Johann Joachim Winckelmann ( 1717-1769 ).
  • The mining and Regional Museum Marie Schacht shows throughout the year various exhibitions and a permanent exhibition on the subject of mining.

  • Malakowturm of Marie Schacht: Built in 1891 last German Malakowturm, striking building of Bannewitz, is also found in the coat of arms again

  • Castle Nöthnitz: 1635 built and 1870 altered Renaissance castle. The castle was in the 18th century in the possession of Count Heinrich von Bünau and housed its library with more than 42 000 volumes.
  • Church in Bannewitz, it was built in 1864 as the school and served the Dresden Kreuz church in 1877 as a prayer room. 1885 a steeple was placed in front of the building, which is unique in the Free State of Saxony.
  • Possendorfer Church, the landmark of the district, with its 57 meter high tower. The foundation walls date back to the year 1521, the main part of the church was built in 1595/96. Structural changes occurred during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Parks

At the northeastern edge of Bannewitz is the Castle Park Nöthnitz on which the castle Nöthnitz borders. In the district of Poss village, near the school road, is also located a school parking. Another park, Luna Park, located on the back of Gohligs on the northern edge of the district Hänichen. From here can be looked to Dresden, over the Elbe valley, into Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland as well as in the Eastern Ore Mountains.

Sports clubs

  • SV Bannewitz eV The sports club has the departments football, table tennis, volleyball and chess. The first teams of table tennis and chess section represent the Association in the District League and 1.Landesklasse. In football, the SV Bannewitz since the season 2006/2007 played in the national league of Saxony, but had to go to the 2009/10 season in the district league Dresden descend (later middle).
  • SG Empor Possendorf eV has the departments soccer, volleyball, and gymnastics Popgymnastik. Overall, the club has 510 members who conduct recreational and competitive sport. In football, the first men's team was able to rise in the District League season in mid.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Through the community Bannewitz led since 1856 Windbergbahn of Potschappel, which was originally built as a railway industry for the removal of subsidized at Hänichen and the wind Bergstein coals. After recording the movement of persons and the extension to Possendorf 1909, the connection became an important excursion train. 1951, the line was shut down and dismantled.

Agriculture

The manor Nöthnitz had to divide his land to new farmers as a result of the land reform in 1946. 1952 LPG progress Bannewitz was founded, which in 1956 a sechsställigen open barn with dairy cows at the Horkenstraße and pigsties in Kleinnaundorf took into operation.
