Kreischa is a municipality in the district of Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains in Saxony and is located south of Dresden in the valley of Lockwitzbaches.

Geology

The municipality is located mostly within the so-called Kreischaer basin, a sedimentary sequence from the time of the Permian, which forms a geological transition between the eastern Ore Mountains and the Dresden Elbe Valley boiler together with the adjacent west Doehlen basin around Freital. To a much lesser extent than in neighboring Freital here also existed coal industry. These include the former cotta shaft between Kleinkarsdorf and Quohren and Dippold bay at the Horn tavern. In some ancient walls of the church land and on Lungkwitzer Good reddish, strongly stratified sandstones of the Rotliegend have been installed, which was broken in the area.

As southern boundary of the basin, the hills on the Karsdorfer fault line with the Wilischberg ( basalt) is clearly visible, where the Permian gneisses adjacent to sandstones of the Upper Cretaceous in sharp line. The landmark of Babisnauer poplar stands on the northern border of Kreischaer basin.

The main axis of the place is made of Quohrener water, follows the course of the lowest point of the basin. The Kreischaer basin is drained by the Lockwitzbach and its tributaries by the Lockwitzgrund towards the Elbe.

Traffic

History

In 1282 we find the first written mention of the village in the name of Heinricus de Kryschowe. The name can be interpreted by ancient Slavic roots as a " village of Crooked, lame ".

Sports

World famous Kreischa was founded in 1992 by its Institute for Doping Analysis and Sports chemistry Kreischa. During the GDR was Kreischa national center for sports chemistry. In 1990, the legal ownership is transferred to the municipality Kreischa. With the entry into force of the German Unification Treaty of sports medicine department was dissolved. On October 4, 1990 was a decision of the municipal council, the Central Institute in the clinic over Bavaria.
