Windberg (Freital)

The wind mountain ( 353 m above sea level. NN ) is located in the city of Freital near Dresden in Saxony and is considered the mountain town.

Geomorphology and natural features

The wind mountain has a distinctive, highly visible silhouette. At the narrow northwestern increase is followed by a length in the stretched wide and densely forested plateau at. The mountain is reported because of its natural Waldbestockung and the rich flora and fauna since 1967 as a nature and landscape protection area. From wind mountain there is a view in southern, western and northern direction. Windbergbahn

Mining

The mountain itself has been dominated by the coal mining industry of the 19th century. So find yourself on the edge of the plateau-like full form numerous dumps, but also cuts and fractures.
