Golitsyno

Golizyno (Russian Голицыно ) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is located about 40 km west of Moscow and has 17,593 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ). The two nearest towns are Krasnoznamensk (formerly Golizyno -2) and Aprelewka.

History

Golizyno emerged from the village Wjasjomy (Russian Вязёмы ), which was already known in the 16th century. In Wjasjomy was the country residence of the boyars and regent Boris Godunov, whose manor house has been preserved until today. The real story, however, began Golizynos 1694, when the land passed to the family of the Golitsyn, which has since gives the place its name. Due to its location in the western advance of Moscow, the place was fought both in the Patriotic War of 1812 and in the Second World War. Since 1872 Golizyno was designated as a settlement and received only 2004 after a decision of the Governor of Moscow Oblast, Boris Gromov, the city status.

Economy and infrastructure

The main industries are the coach factory Golizynos golaz, a ceramic and a tool factory.

Traffic Technically, the city is connected among other things, the M1 and A107 roads. It also has a railway station on the highway Moscow - Smolensk -Minsk -Warsaw. Built in 1906, The station building is a listed building.
