Gordon E. Sawyer

Gordon E. Sawyer ( born August 27, 1905 in Santa Barbara, California, † March 15, 1980 ) was an American sound director.

Sawyer was employed only at the Goldwyn Picture Corporation and later worked with the successor company Metro -Goldwyn -Mayer Overall, he was over 50 years working there. During that time he won three Academy Awards of Merit for his performance in the films Every woman needs an Angel (1947 ), Alamo (1960 ) and West Side Story (1961) and has been nominated a further twelve times. In 1977 he was awarded the John A. Bonner Medal.

According to him, the Gordon E. Sawyer Award is named, which is awarded to an individual for outstanding achievements in science and technology the film industry.
